Kings, chieftans, warriors, princes, bards, and holy men" It seems odd to me that, since this place harks back to the Old Religion, in which women were extremely powerful, this list of the people whose memory clings to it, completely excludes the female. Yes, Cashel itself is referred to as "she," but then the discussion of her here, is of a place, a THING, over which men fought, as if Cashel were passive and some man or men triumphed by owning or holding it. It's sad to see the vibrant feminine aspect of the Old Religion utterly dismissed in this piece.

I have not always heard the Voice of God but have always loved Him and searched to know Him. This search has led me to hear His voice and follow Him, in ways that sometimes seem strange to others. I appreciate your words. When I began to hear His voice I realized He was everywhere and I couldn't imagine not sensing His presence all the time. I had heard others talk about this silence but I doubted it would ever happen to me. But it has. God is teaching me to rely on Him and to continue to seek Him, not just the Voice. I will go and find the thin places. I see this is truth. God bless you!

Just returned from my stay in the are. It was a moving experience to stand in the Abbey grave yard and pause to reflect on the needless tragedy. Generations of families lost to the greed of the landowners who stole the lives of the future inheritance of so many Irish children. The idea of a Famine Memorial Day is one which should be etched on the inventory of the great landed gentry who still profit from the toils of the poor. We are still a nation gripped in a struggle to survive.

Aisling ... I'm so sorrowful to hear of Kathleen's passing. Having stayed with her twice, she made a remarkable impact on me. It wasn't just her hospitality, it was her humility, her devotion to God and the wonderful stories she told me about Northern Ireland.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll light a candle for Kathleen at the Shrine of St. Anthony. She'd like that, I think.

I too collect stones when something about them fascinates me. I have quite a few heart shaped ones. My granddaughter Ava loves going through them., colored one, shiny ones, and ones that "spoke" to me. They are small so she can pick them up and feel them. We both love stones.

It's worth it. A magical place.
